Responsible for assisting in the direction of all aspects of accounting/administration for a development and operation of a small luxury rural farm resort. accordance to county regulations; responsible for planning, managing, and supporting the achievement of revenue and income objectives, market share, and customer service objectives; establishes departmental policies and procedures; develops and monitors all departmental budgets to ensure their profitable operation. Management functions within General & Administrative include Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Purchasing, Receiving, Night Audit and Accounts Receivable.
This position provides leadership within the Finance Department and holds considerable responsibility including successful delivery of all key aspects within the Finance sphere to help ensure Southalls Mission, future profitability, and sustainability.
Responsibilities
- Maintains accounting activities under the direction of the Director of Finance, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and in accordance with all related local and corporate policies and procedures
- Assists the Director of Finance in maintaining the general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations
- Supervises other areas within the Finance Department under the direction of the Director of Finance as needed
- Participates in the preparation of the annual audit
- Participates in the physical inventory counts and the subsequent accuracy of count, price, and valuation
- Safeguards the cash assets through daily/monthly bank reconciliations, cash counts of all issued banks, including general cashier, and reporting any discrepancies to the Assistant Director of Finance
- Assists with month end adjustment journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepares periodic vacation and medical deduction audits
- Prepares required backup or work papers in order to provide analysis and control over balance sheet and P&L accounts and to serve the purpose of internal and external audits
- Supervises the daily accounting operations ensuring compliance with the SOPs and Federal, State and local laws and regulations
- Assumes the responsibilities of the Director of Finance in his/her absence
- Checks and reconciles General Ledger accounts and bank statements
- Assists in training and supervising accounting staff. Schedules workloads and flow
- Maintains working knowledge of all property systems and able to assist in training others
- Researches guest questions; follows through within 24 hours
- Maintains tracking of all contracts, leases, insurances, W9s, COIs and vendor requirements.
- Assists in preparation of tax filing, monthly and annually
- Monitors hotel operations to ensure compliance with all internal policies
- Assists in preparing forecasts and budgets
- Prepares monthly financial statements, journal entries, accruals, and all accounting books with official guidelines and requirements
- Assists with projects as needed
- Performs other duties and responsibilities asked by Director of Finance based upon department needs
- Assists in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices
Skills and Experience
- 3 years of solid hotel/hospitality experience in a business-related field
- Opening experience is preferrable
- As an effective ADOF, you will have good knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. You must be an organized professional with a great eye for detail. You must be reliable and able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively.
- Excellent verbal and written communications, networking, and presentation skills (in English).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex tasks and prioritize competing demands in order to meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated ability with constructive, team-centric leadership skills

Education
BA/BS in Accounting or Finance highly preferred
