Food Service Director/Head Chef - Children's Summer Day Camp
Premier children’s day camp in Suffolk County, Long Island, NY is looking for a passionate seasonal Food Service Director and Head Chef to work the camp season of June, July & August and to grow with the company.
The successful candidate will work alongside the existing camp director and food service team to help implement a healthy & nutritious menu for both staff and campers of Nursery, Pre-K and Elementary ages. Breakfast (80 staff, 7:30am-815am), Lunch (360 campers & 150 staff 11:00am-1:00pm) and staff evening meal (80 staff 5:00pm) required. Other responsibilities include, but not limited to, staff management, food/supply ordering, stock management, cooking & prep, and adhering to Suffolk County Dept. Health regulations.
The Food Service Director and Head Chef position ideally requires experience in day camp/sleepaway camp setting, in an educational(school) setting or equivalent, and have experience ordering.
* THIS IS NOT A 12-MONTH POSITION.
Food Service Director/Food Service Worker Requirements:
- Successful candidate will be able to commute to Southampton, NY (East End of Long Island) on a daily basis from June 16 through August 29
- Evenings & Weekends are off - with exception of 2/3 staff training sessions
- Suffolk County Food Management Certificate or equivalent (SafeServe, etc) mandatory (or willing to obtain before beginning of June)
- Salary negotiable & based on experience - ranging between $15,000 - $20,000 for the 11/12 week contract.
- Experience working at a school or camp previously is highly desirable.
- Experience managing a team of staff
- Experience ordering food from vendors
