Job Description :
Southampton County Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to assist in providing healthcare services to students at Meherrin Elementary School. The CNA will support the School Nurse in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for students, performing basic health-related tasks, and assisting with daily healthcare needs.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist the School Nurse in providing first aid, administering medications, and performing routine medical tasks as required.
- Support students with special healthcare needs, including helping with mobility, hygiene, and feeding if necessary.
- Monitor and record student health data, including temperatures, symptoms, and medications administered.
- Assist with health screenings, such as vision, hearing, and scoliosis checks, under the supervision of the School Nurse.
- Provide support to students with chronic health conditions or medical emergencies.
- Help maintain a clean and sanitary healthcare environment, including sterilizing equipment and ensuring the nurse's office is well-organized.
- Supervise students during rest periods in the nurse's office and monitor their condition while waiting for further medical attention or parental pick-up.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to promote a safe and healthy school environment.
- Provide emotional support to students and help them understand their health conditions and treatments.
