Veterinary Assistant

Southeast Animal Hospital is looking for a full time/part time Veterinary Assistant to join the team! We are looking for an experienced, trustworthy and friendly individual with excellent communication skills. You will assist our veterinarians and other team members in various procedures, you will work side by side with our support staff to ensure the safety and well-being of all animals in our hospital. We do see a range of exotics from birds to snakes and wildlife as well! We do require you to have a minimum of 1 year experience working in a veterinary hospital.

Duties

• Assist veterinarians and technicians (nurses) including but not limited to: during examinations, surgical procedures, Xrays, Ultrasounds.
• Restrain patients over 50lbs, including many exotics such as birds, reptiles, rabbits.
• Obtain the patients weight when they first come in.
• Set up for X-rays and Ultrasounds
• Prep and clean dental and surgery instruments, before and after procedures. Use an Autoclave and Sterilizer.
• Daily inventory management and restocking, experience with Trello a plus.
• Daily cleaning and organization within the hospital, including laundry, exam rooms, bathrooms, treatment room, kennels, kitchen and bathrooms.
• Handle animals with care and compassion during all interactions.
• Walking dogs, feeding animals, changing bedding.
• Assisting clients to their cars when needed
• Answering calls, book appointments, sending emails
• Assist other team members as needed.
• Demonstrate punctuality in your work schedule

Skills
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

• Knowledge of veterinary terminology
• Ability to use a multi-line phone system
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Experience with Google Sheets and/or the ability to learn our PIMS/programs.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Exotic handling experience is a plus
• Good people skills exhibiting respect, kindness and compassion while interacting with pet owners and other team members in person or over the phone.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Capability to lift, stand sit and remain on your feet for long periods of time

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 38 per week
