What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Academic Interventionist position at Southeast Application Consortium?
- Manage a caseload of roughly 25-30 students who need academic intervention in a variety of courses. Students are typically behind on credits or at risk of becoming behind on credits.
- Assist students with organizational skills, provide direct tutoring support, help build confidence, and help them to cope with stress/anxiety.
- Create a program and actively teach interventions individually or in small groups to help address student needs.
- Work directly with students in small groups (3-6 students) to help address their needs.
- Act as a liaison between students and other staff to help facilitate conversations about support and needs.
- Meet with the Student Success Team multiple times per month before school to ensure students are getting what they need.
- Attempt interventions with students who are not being successful with tier 1 instruction.
- Frequent communication with parents/guardians about academic progress and behavior to help promote a cooperative approach to helping students grow.
- Regularly monitors student progress both in classes and towards graduation. Adjust plans as needed to support their progress.
- Participates in building-wide activities to help promote a positive culture for both students and staff.
- Assist in all core academic subjects
- Advocate for students while also holding them accountable for their decisions
- Communicate frequently and appropriately with parents, staff, and administration in a positive, professional, and supportive manner
- Be an active part of the student support services team and student success team
- Deescalate students who are struggling to cope with their current situation
- Provide direct interventions on an individual basis
- Organize a system to meet the individual needs of students
- Maintain a growth mindset and focus on the positive steps
- Build relationships with students from many different backgrounds
- Assess student learning and performance on a regular basis, providing feedback to both the student and their parent/guardian
- Available outside of the school day to meet with colleges, administrators, students, and parents when required or requested to fulfill other job duties
- Maintain accurate and complete records regarding grades, attendance, progress, and behavior of students
- Is knowledgeable of and actively works to uphold and enforce school board policies, administrative procedures, and school rules
- Regularly checks email and other methods of correspondence to ensure knowledge is up to date and the lines of communication remain open
- Attend additional training, both in building and out, as needed to stay up to date and current on instructional best practices, behavior management techniques, and content-specific items
- Regularly demonstrate a growth mindset for both students and staff
- Take creative risks to help students learn more effectively
- Maintain a positive and professional approach when interacting with students, parents, community, and other staff

TITLE: Academic Interventionist
SALARY & BENEFITS: Based on the current teacher contract
QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold a current teacher license for the high school age group
DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Building Principal

CONTRACT DAYS & HOURS: 185 days from mid-August through mid-June as dictated by the annual school calendar. On contract days, building hours are typically 7:30am - 3:30pm, but may be occasionally changed or extended to help fulfill professional duties. Additional time outside of the building will be needed to successfully complete duties and responsibilities listed below.
