Position Overview:
The Media Specialist and Sports Information Coordinator is a key member of the Marketing and Communications team, responsible for managing internal and external communications, overseeing digital content for Shark Athletics, and supporting the college’s branding and marketing efforts. This role requires a creative, organized, and detail-oriented individual who can develop engaging content, maintain the athletics website and social media accounts, and assist in distributing important campus communications.
Key Responsibilities:
Athletics and Digital Media Management
- Create and manage content for all Shark Athletics social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, and team-specific pages) to enhance visibility and engagement.
- Serve as the webmaster for the official college athletics website (www.searksharks.com), ensuring all content is current and relevant.
- Maintain the SEARK branding guide within athletics to ensure consistency across all marketing materials.
- Provide photo and video coverage of athletic events, student-athlete highlights, and game-day promotions to boost engagement and fan involvement.
- Coordinate with coaches and athletic staff to develop game recaps, athlete spotlights, and team announcements for distribution across digital platforms.
- Organize and share digital media albums with student-athletes and college departments as needed.
Internal Communications & Branding
- Act as the main point of contact for distributing campus updates and information to faculty, staff, and students via email notifications.
- Assist the Director of Public Relations and Marketing in implementing the college’s marketing and communications strategies.
- Assist the Director of Public Relations and Marketing in managing and updating content on the college’s SharePoint intranet, main website, and athletics website, ensuring information is accurate and aligned with institutional priorities.
- Develop and create social media content, digital newsletters, and promotional materials to enhance internal engagement and institutional branding.
- Assist in the creation and review of campus-wide materials, ensuring consistency with college messaging and branding.
- Work closely with various departments to enhance internal messaging and campus event promotions.
Content Creation & Media Coverage
- Produce high-quality graphics, videos, and written content to support athletics, student activities, and campus-wide initiatives.
- Provide on-site photo and video coverage of key athletic and institutional events, ensuring timely updates on social media and digital platforms.
- Develop creative multimedia campaigns that highlight student-athletes, academic achievements, and campus culture.
- Ensure consistent branding across all digital and print materials, enhancing the college’s visibility and engagement efforts.
All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Proven ability to create engaging written, visual, and multimedia content for various platforms and audiences.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) and their strategic use for marketing and engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to clarity, accuracy, and audience engagement.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Canva or Adobe Creative Suite, relevant media editing tools (photo/video editing software, website management tools).
- Experience with athletics communications, event coverage, and sports media production is highly preferred.
Qualifications:

High School Diploma with:
- Experience in Marketing, Media Production, Sports Management, Journalism, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social media management and content creation with a focus on athletics.
- Knowledge of sports information management, including game-day coverage and reporting.
- Familiarity with SharePoint, website content management, and email marketing platforms.
