Founded in 1977 in San Francisco’s Tenderloin District, the Southeast Asian Development Center, formerly Vietnamese Youth Development Center (VYDC), is a nonprofit organization dedicated to lifting children, youth, and families from Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam out of poverty. About The Health & Wellness Department
The Health & Wellness Department’s goal is to promote mental wellness and increase awareness of mental health access to San Francisco’s Southeast Asian communities. The department’s program implements culturally and linguistically appropriate services ensuring that mental health resources and support are accessible and relevant. The department conducts wellness promotion activities, provides counseling, individual and group therapeutic services in addition to psycho-educational workshops.
Licensed Therapist
The Licensed Therapist provides clinically and culturally competent mental health services to youth and adults at the Southeast Asian Development Center. The Licensed Therapist conducts psych-assessments, prepares intervention and treatment plan, and provides short-term individual and group therapy.
This position requires independent thought and discretion, as well as the ability to proactively assess SEADC client mental health needs, and situations that require higher level of intervention. The candidate must have a deep understanding of behavioral services and / or health prevention services to improve Southeast Asian Americans health outcomes. They must have skill sets in evidence-based psychotherapy and behavioral change with experience in delivering person-centered care.
The Licensed Therapist reports to the Director of Programs.

Compensation : $91,000-94,000 annual, Exempt; Full time, expected hours of work 37.5 hours per week

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Services (90%)
- Provides clinically & culturally competent short-term individual counseling on- and off-site to SEADC youth, families, adults, and older adults.
- Provides clinically & culturally competent group counseling, support, and psychoeducational services on- and off-site to SEADC youth, families, adults, and older adults.
- Conducts, screening, intakes & initial assessments of clients in culturally appropriate and sensitive manners that builds strong rapport.
- Conduct mental health treatment plans to identify client needs and goals and engage in continuous clinical documentation towards goals.
- Collect and document client and service information in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain client case files and records in organized fashion, in compliance with HIPAA regulations and funder requirements.
- Ensure clients receive high quality services and follow all legal and ethical state and BBS guidelines.
- Provide consultation and guidance to staff on client’s mental health needs.
- Enters accurate client data and complete monthly reports in a timely manner.
