Job Description:
The primary role of this position is to handle counter sales and provide service and information to customers who walk into the company's retail showroom.
This position is also responsible for maintaining stock levels on the sales floor and ensuring an orderly, attractive, clean, and safe retail environment.
Responsibilities:
- Sell lumber and related materials to customers who come into the store's sales floor.
- Provide support and help to DIY customers.
- Handle telephone and email inquiries from customers as appropriate.
- Coordinate customer deliveries as necessary.
- Create accurate sales tickets and enter all information into the computer system.
- Operate a cash register and balance the drawer daily.
- Maintain shelf and floor stock levels and work with purchasing to ensure adequate inventory in the stockroom.
- Maintain an attractive, orderly, clean, and safe sales floor.
- Take initiative to complete tasks without being asked.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- At least 3 years of work experience, with some sales experience preferred.
- A working knowledge of lumber and building materials.
- Computer literacy.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- The ability to effectively build and maintain relationships with other employees and with customers.
- The ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
- The ability to demonstrate common sense and good judgment.
- A high school diploma or equivalency.
