Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Driller to join our team in the foundation drilling industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating drilling equipment on construction sites, along with ensuring safety and efficiency throughout the drilling process. This role requires a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation, mechanical knowledge, and experience installing caissons. The Driller will work closely with other team members to execute drilling operations for foundation jobs across the southeast. Our home office is located in Kernersville, NC. Most jobs performed will be in North Carolina, but will extend into South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Tennessee, and Alabama. Operators with a Commercial Drivers License are preferred but not necessary.
Responsibilities
- Operate drilling rigs and associated heavy equipment, including Watson and Soil Mec drilling machines, to perform drilling tasks.
- Conduct pre-operation inspections of equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
- Follow established safety protocols and OSHA regulations while on construction sites.
- Collaborate with team members to plan and execute drilling operations effectively.
- Monitor drilling progress and make adjustments as needed to optimize performance.
- Maintain accurate records of drilling activities, including soil conditions, depths and chain of events in a drill log.
- Perform routine maintenance on drilling equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist in the transportation of materials and equipment as required.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment operation.
- Experience in caisson and foundation drilling practices.
- Familiarity with construction site operations and safety standards.
- Proficiency in operating Caterpillar machinery and other heavy equipment.
- Valid commercial driving license is preferred but not mandatory.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues on-site.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members.
