Cook - Dietary POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for preparing and serving food in accordance with established menus, recipes, and sanitary standards. Oversees the work of kitchen staff assisting with food service preparation. Provides excellent dietary services for its customers (patients, residents, staff, and visitors).ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
• Responsible for the preparation and/or directs the preparation of all foods for patients, residents, staff, and visitors.
• Responsible for maintaining high standards of quality food production and portion control using standardized recipes.
• Assures adherence to menus, including those for special diets ordered.
• Responsible for preparing and serving appropriate quantities of food to meet menu requirements.
• Provide input into development/revision of master menus and modified diet menus.
• Assures optimal quality, temperature, and appearance of meals.
• Act in compliance with federal and state sanitary regulations as well as facility infection control guidelines and dietary policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean, hazard-free work area.
• Is responsible for the operation, security, and reconciliation of monies of the cash register.
• Adhere to facility policies and procedures an participates in facility quality improvement and safety programs.
• Attends meetings and in-service sessions, as directed.
• Regular attendance and punctuality.
• Performs other assigned duties.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Directly supervises Food Service Workers I & Food Service Workers II.

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• One year of commercial kitchen experience is required

• Experience in hospital/nursing home food service is preferred but not required.

• Must successfully complete a Dietary Aide course as soon as it is offered after employment
