Description
The Working Foreman will work directly with the Bulk Warehouse Manager. They will be responsible for assisting aspects of operations in the Bulk department. This position will assist the Bulk Warehouse Manager in overseeing productivity, maintenance, crew responsibilities, and warehouse planning. Through analysis, asset, and personnel management, this position will maximize shareholder value. The position shall implement the priorities of management and its customers and maintain corporate policy and procedures. The position will safeguard the reputation, employees and assets of the company.
Requirements
- Able to lead the warehouse crew by being a working example.
- Oversees aspects of the day-to-day operations in the Bulk department.
- Communicates closely with the Bulk Warehouse Manager & Terminal Handling Manager regarding operational priorities.
- Ensures the team and vendors receive and deliver all cargo from port to/from trucks/railcars.
- Able to direct a crew with minimal assistance from the Bulk Warehouse Manager.
- Respectful of assistance requested in other departments and willing to provide man power to assist.
- Maintains cargo quality and integrity, as well as having a trained eye for specific cargoes.
- Ensures performance and productivity of the facility are in line with corporate objectives.
- Upholds local union/non-union and customer contractual obligations.
- Ensures adherence to environmental compliance rules, processes, and regulations.
- Ensures adherence to port and all regulatory reporting requirements.
- Adheres to local safety protocols and works with local HSE Management in order to do so.
- Continuously evaluates local procedures for improvements.
- Directs and participates in daily priorities and projects.
- Capable of maintaining cleanliness of the bulk area with assistance of crew members.
- Knowledgeable of safe operations of mobile and fixed warehouse equipment.
- Ensures operator level maintenance of all machinery and equipment before and after operations.
- Establishes and implements local policies, practices, short- and long-term goals and operating procedures, as necessary, to meet organizational objectives.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assists other operations with operational, engineering or maintenance issues.
- Participates in industry functions and attends meetings.
- Regular, predictable and reliable attendance.
- May work weekends and holidays.
Knowledge & Experience
- Equivalent of a High School diploma and some experience in Logistics and Warehousing or equivalent experience in warehouse or marine terminal operations.
- Knowledge of operating procedures for all warehouse equipment such as mobile & fixed operations equipment.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to acquire TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card.
