Southeast Extinguisher Service is a family owned business that provides fire extinguisher services; emergency light services; commercial restaurant fire system services; fire alarm services; marine and special hazards services; hood cleaning; high and low hydro testing services, including DOT; and first aid, CPR and fire extinguisher training.
We have been providing services in Southeast Alaska and across the State since 2000. In this job, you will be providing valuable fire and life safety services for the protection of the community.
The job requires relocation to Juneau, Alaska and we provide housing and relocation assistance for the right candidate. This job also requires travel on unique means of transportation (small planes, helicopters and boats) to remote locations and small communities. Company covers the cost of travel and per diem.
Job duties:
Provide technical services to our customers on special hazards systems (land and marine), including the installation and commissioning of new or expanded systems; perform system modifications as necessary; conduct regular testing and inspections of systems; and perform troubleshooting and repairs as needed.
The successful applicant must be able to identify code and non-conformance issues, make recommendations regarding system installations and service/repairs, and have the necessary certifications to perform the tasks independently.
Prior knowledge and ability to perform other services within our company or a willingness to learn (we provide all training) is a bonus. Your salary is only limited by how much you are willing to work.
Education, training and experience:
· applicant must have not less than two years cumulative experience in the special hazards systems business; and
· must have passed or be able to pass the NICET II test in the special hazards. The State of Alaska only requires the test to be passed and not full NICET certification.
Other qualifications:
· be able to pass criminal history check and driving check
· enroll in a drug and alcohol testing program (FAA and DOT), which requires applicant to pass drug tests for all Federally illegal drugs, including marijuana
· have good customer service skills
· have regular and punctual attendance
· have good verbal and written communications skills
· be able to accurately complete electronic forms and documents related to the inspection process with excellent attention to detail
· be able to lift fifty (50) pounds unassisted; safely maneuver through reduced access spaces; squat, kneel, bend, crawl, and climb; carry, secure, and store necessary material, tools, and utility ladders; climb a ladder; and work with hands overhead
· be available to work the required shift based on the customer’s availability, which could include evening and weekend hours
