Greenbush – The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center is seeking applications for a Program Director/Building Administrator at the East Central Kansas Academy.

Anticipated Start Date: 07/01/2025. Position will remain open until filled. Equal Opportunity Employer. Must have legal ability to work in the United States without sponsorship. Competitive salary commensurate with experience.

Job Summary: Provide efficient and responsible supervision, evaluation, and improvement of the instructional program, consistent with the policies established by the Board. Provide for effective and responsible communication with staff, students, guardians, district and facility patrons. Foster staff initiative and positive rapport. This position is primarily responsible for affecting a climate in which the curriculum can be facilitated for the purpose of providing the students with an exemplary and comprehensive instructional program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

A valid driver’s license is required for employment. REAL ID is required if air travel is necessary to complete job duties.

  • Minimum of Master’s degree in education, curriculum, or related educational field.
  • Valid State of Kansas administrative license.
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience.
  • Knowledgeable of State, local, and Federal regulations that apply to students and education.
  • Current health immunizations.
  • Must be in good standing with partnering district(s) where the program is located.

Preferred:

  • Special education degree.
  • Prior experience in special education, behavior management, and data collection.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:

  • Organize, schedule, and maintain a comprehensive instructional program providing for the varying needs, abilities, and interests of students.
  • Facilitate site-based decision-making.
  • Supervise the instructional programs, evaluate lesson plans, and observe classes on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning and child growth and development.
  • Assist in the selection and mentoring of staff.
  • Research and collect data regarding the needs of students, and other pertinent information. Use assessment and other data to create optimal learning opportunities for all students.
  • Notify the appropriate personnel and agencies when there is evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical or social conditions, potential suicide, or students appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances.
  • Keep staff informed and seek ideas for the improvement of the program.
  • Employ approved verbal and physical intervention techniques when the student becomes a danger to self or others.
  • Facilitate staff meetings, committee meetings, and other groups to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Maintain high standards of student conduct, and enforce discipline in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Supervise the preparation and maintenance of student records
  • Ensure a safe and healthful learning environment.
  • Plan and assume responsibility for safety drills consistent with state, local, and District regulations and policies. Train staff in emergency situations.
  • Serve as a role model for students, dressing professionally, demonstrating the importance and relevance of learning, accepting responsibility, and demonstrating pride in the education profession.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, seeking their support and advice, so as to create a cooperative relationship.
  • Use excellent written and oral communication skills.

General Responsibilities:

  • Maintain timely documentation.
  • Support the mission, goals, and objectives of the Southeast Kansas Education Service Center (SEKESC).
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined by FERPA and HIPAA.
  • Ability to work alone and in groups to provide services.
  • Maintain professional relationships with families.
  • Assume responsibility for individual professional growth by staying current with literature, research, and/or practices.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the ability to effectively and regularly communicate with other employees of the SEKESC and constituents.
  • Complete all assignments in a timely manner including communication with other staff and families.
  • Follow all safety requirements as directed by the SEKESC.
  • Regular and predictive attendance in the designated work location as determined by the Executive Director or designee.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or designee.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lifting to pounds.
  • Manage all job duties with mobility, agility, and dexterity.
  • Sit/stand for long periods.
  • Work in loud/stressful environments.
  • Ability to drive in varying weather and geographical conditions.
  • Being exposed to infectious and contagious diseases.
  • Being exposed to hazardous materials.
  • Being exposed to work settings that offer a risk to personal security and that are not ADA-compliant.

The plan provides an opportunity for any Greenbush employee working at least 1,004 hours per year to be reimbursed up to $1500 per contract year for tuition costs. Employees of Greenbush meeting the hour requirement can apply to participate in the program by completing the Education Reimbursement Application Form. In addition, Greenbush offers a Professional License Reimbursement Program, which provides full reimbursement for professional licenses with specific Kansas licensing authorities and other appropriate authorities (a complete list can be provided upon request).
