University Marketing at Southeast Missouri State University seeks a talented designer for a graphic designer position. The graphic designer is responsible for creating art across mediums, including print and digital, to support Southeast’s brand story. The designer is a skilled artist in developing work from concept to print files as well as an adept marketer who understands achieving the goals behind the design strategy.
Primary Responsibilities
- Works independently and collaboratively with a team to conceptualize, create, and design highly effective and strategic marketing materials targeted to a diverse set of audiences for use in a variety of mediums (primarily print, social media, and websites)
- Assists with the evolution and development of University brand standards and style guidelines
- Researches and stays abreast of changing design trends and software changes to maximize workflow efficiency and to stay on trend and forward-thinking in a competitive marketplace
- Researches and writes compelling content for print, digital, and website
- Communicates and collaborates with clients to understand and translate their needs into effective and strategic marketing pieces designed for a variety of external and internal audiences
- Collaborates in the development of marketing campaigns and projects to advance University goals
- Provides art direction and styling at photoshoots
- Communicates with print vendors regarding project setup and handoff to ensure print pieces are created error-free
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, art, technical graphics, marketing, advertising, communications, public relations, or related field
- Knowledge of graphic design and visual arts concepts, principles, trends, and practices for both print and digital mediums
- Demonstrated ability to use technology, including Adobe Creative Suite, effectively to design complex print and web projects within brand, as well as knowledge of print standards and preparing files for press
- Strong organizational, time management, and communications skills as well as superb attention to detail
- Collaborative working style and ability to participate in and receive design analysis and critique
