Hall DirectorOffice of Residence LifeFull-TimeThe Office of Residence Life is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Hall Director. This individual will provide primary leadership of a residential community of approximately 250-400 students and supervision of a staff of Resident Assistants. Additionally, the Hall Director will advise Residence Hall Association representatives, develop and oversee retention initiatives, and provide on-call coverage for the campus. Specific opportunities include working with Fraternity and Sorority chapters living within the residence halls.We endeavor to provide a residential experience that supports student success while recognizing the unique role of college students as future leaders in our society and community. In support of this role, our residential programs and services enhance the development of college students through the integration of the classroom and co-curricular educational experiences.We recognize students as members who each possess individual needs and goals. To support student's needs and goals, we foster opportunities for personal development through individualized interactions between students, staff, and family members.Primary Responsibilities: Supervise 7-17 undergraduate Student Staff MembersCoordinate the development and evaluation of student staffAssist with the coordination of student staff selection and trainingDevelop an inclusive, academically supportive community of 250-400 studentsCreate intentional efforts to interact with students and provide opportunities for student growth and developmentAdvise Residence Hall Association representatives for hallsAdjudicate violations of policies and proceduresManage hall facilities, budget, occupancy, and other planning and administrative tasksAssist staff in assessing student needs and provide educational and social programs to effectively meet those needsParticipate in mediations, crisis management, and emergency response on a rotating basis for incidents occurring in the halls across campusInitiate and maintain positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, family members, and external constituents with a variety of experiencesServe as a University spokesperson at campus eventsAssist with camps/conferences and/or summer school operations
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Bachelor's degree (Spring 2025 graduates will be considered); master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, or Counseling is a plusExperience as a hall supervisor (ex., as a senior RA, graduate Hall Director, or similar position), in a campus leadership position, or equivalent experienceDemonstrated understanding of and a strong commitment to the development of students and residence hall communitiesDemonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and take initiative beyond general job expectationsEffective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsDemonstrated innovative approaches in problem-solvingAbility to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptionsDemonstrated ability to develop communities through a variety of programmatic effortsExperience working with the Microsoft Office suite or other computer programsExperience working with or advising student groups/organizations or working with academic support initiativesDemonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
