Job Description
Qualifications:
- Terminal degree or Master's of Business Administration from an accredited university with eight (8) years of progressively responsible financial management experience, and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a financial leadership role within higher education/government.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A proven track record of leading teams, managing financial operations, and driving performance. Experience with higher education SIS and ERP systems (e.g., Anthology). Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Equivalency:
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience as approved by the Human Resources Department.
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary: $200,000 per year DOE with a $3,000/month housing allowance. The duration of this interim position is until June 30, 2026.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Develops and implements a comprehensive financial strategy aligned with the college's strategic plan, mission, and vision. Oversees the college's financials and related functions including financial management and planning, accounting, procurement, budgeting, auditing, financial aid, application of internal controls, and investment management.
Manages the college's investments, endowment, and spending practices with an emphasis on strong stewardship of funds. Directs the budgeting process effectively to establish sound operating and capital budgets and develops and maintains a five-year financial planning model for use by administration and the Board of Trustees.
Works closely with schools, colleges, universities, businesses, community groups, and the Board of Trustees to provide relevant information, consultation, and recommendations on financial related matters. Provides regular and timely support to the President and ensures that the President is prepared to communicate accurately about all business-related and financial matters.
Serves as a primary financial communicator to the Board of Trustees, employees, students, alums, parents, donors, and other appropriate contacts. Presents and serves as a liaison to audits related to business and finance, risk management, and investments.
Ensures that business and financial policies, procedures, and controls serve the needs of the college and are understood. Obtains long and short-term financing as may be necessary to meet the financial requirements of the college. Establishes procedures for accounting and maintenance of records for all federal grants and appropriations and prepares data for all required reports.
Manages purchasing and secures competitive bids for all contracted services. Facilitates strategic partnerships to develop alternate revenue streams. Serves as a primary contact for the college's insurance providers and acts as a compliance officer for issues affecting SENMC.
Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to the Bookstore, Business, Facilities, and Health Clinic teams, fostering a collaborative work environment and achieving the college's goals. Advise the Executive Team on financial related matters, including the examination and definition of objectives for existing and proposed financial systems.
Collaborate with other colleges and universities to share information or resources, as necessary, to improve the overall security of the higher education sector. Engage in professional development to maintain continual growth in professional skills and knowledge essential to the position.
As directed by the President, represents the institution in executive and legislative governments at the local, state, and national levels; determines budgetary priorities and develops, recommends, and implements the annual budget.
Collaborates with and supports the Executive Team (Vice President of Academic Affairs, Vice President of Student Services, Vice President of Workforce Development and Community Engagement, Chief Information Officer, and the President) in leading the college. Maintains a positive, productive high profile within the region, including business partners and other educational institutions.
Develops and fosters positive and productive relationships between the college and its various constituencies. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
