Job Description
Job Title: Teacher Associate - Connect Program
Location: Alternate Programs - located in the former Spring Creek building
Hours: 8:00am-3:15pm/10:00am-3:15pm W
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to relate successfully with all students and staff members.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to apply skills learned through job-related professional training.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must possess strong aptitude in using and understanding District technology systems such as; Infinite Campus, Edgenuity, and Google Docs.
- Experience with data management across multiple platforms, including spreadsheets.
- Ability to work independently, problem solve, and complete responsibilities as scheduled.
- Good interpersonal relationship skills and experience working with high school students in an academic setting.
- Must possess successful experience in working with and understanding the diverse needs of students in 9th thru 12th grades.
- Ability to make decisions within guidelines provided.
- Previous experience working with confidential student data in an educational setting.
Desired:
- Associates Degree in business or education related field.
- Experience working in a school classroom setting providing support and direction to multiple students.
Reports to: Principal of District Programs
Job Goal:
To set up credit recovery courses, monitor students in their completion of multiple forms of credit recovery courses, and to communicate with teachers, counselors, and administrators regarding student progression through credit recovery courses for a district dedicated to preparing students for success in college, career, and civic life. The performance responsibilities as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the building assigned.
Performance Responsibilities:
- To work as a team member with teachers, guidance counselors, and administrators.
- To set up online credit recovery courses within Edgenuity and monitor student progression.
- To create, update, and share student progress spreadsheets with counselors and administrators.
- To communiate student attendance to all necessary stakeholders.
- To communicate with appropriate stakeholders regarding student progress in credit recovery courses.
- To interact effectively and appropriately with students, parents, and staff.
- To keep students focused on their task by providing corrective feedback.
- To assist the students with the completion of credit recovery in the all curricular areas.
- To assist students in finding appropriate academic support when necessary.
- To maintain all school rules in the classroom and manage student behavior while in the Connect classroom, including making appropriate referrals to other levels of support (counselors/administration).
- To provide an appropriate role model for the students.
Physical Demands:
- Must be capable of sitting throughout the work day.
- Must present appropriate appearance and personal cleanliness suited to working in close proximity to students and adults.
- Must be able to work with interruptions during a work shift.
- Must be capable of working with students with different personalities, capabilities, and physical and mental limitations.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Southeast Polk Board Policy.
Terms of Employment:
1. 180 paid days.
