The Southeast Region Career/Tech. Center is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Marketing Instructor to be a part of our team. This person will teach in Oakes, North Dakota. Applicants must have, or be eligible for, a North Dakota Professional Teaching License. Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a comprehensive Career and Technical Education Marketing Program. Providing leadership and direct involvement with the DECA are a must. Driver's license required.
TITLE: Marketing Instructor

2. Valid Professional Teaching Certificate

REPORTS TO: Assistant Director
JOB GOAL: To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for physical, intellectual, and social-emotional growth and maturation.
1. Provide proper instruction in the areas of Marketing and Distribution.
2. Laboratory work shall be assigned only after classroom instruction in each new curriculum area has been given to all students.
3. DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) activities shall be carried out.
4. Classroom discipline is primarily assigned to the classroom instructor; whenever the situation warrants, the Assistant Director and the home school principal shall take part in this activity.
5. Seek out proper work stations for appropriate students and provide continuous maintenance of the work experience program.
6. Obtain and maintain proper teaching certificate(s).
7. Manage school store and fundraising activities according to proper business procedures.
8. Develop and/or take part in public relations activities.
9. Follow school policies and procedures.
10. Manage and maintain the model/school store including inventory, financial records, instructional program, and daily operation.
11. Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and the times designated by the Assistant Director.
12. Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
13. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all subjects, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
14. Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the Assistant Director.
15. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
16. Strive to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
17. Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
18. Assess the accomplishment of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
19. Refer to district specialists those students suspected of learning/emotional problems.
20. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
21. Make provisions for being available to students and parents for educational purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
22. Attend and participate in faculty meetings.
23. Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
24. Establish and maintain cooperative relations with other staff members.
25. Provide for own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of advanced training, and membership in professional vocational organizations.
26. Use to good advantage the preparation time granted during the instructional day.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be according to the contract conditions approved by the Southeast Region Career and Technology Center Board of Education.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.

To provide instruction and program leadership for an approved secondary Business Technology/Marketing Program including coordination of student internships, (field experiences) and both traditional and distance education instructional delivery. The instructor is expected to lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for academic achievement, intellectual, social, and emotional growth and maturation in the context of Business Education and Marketing Education. Operation and management of a school based enterprise, (School Store) during each school year is part of the overall educational program.
Applicants must have or be eligible for a ND Professional Educators License as required and a Marketing and Business Education endorsement as approved by the ND State Department for Career and Technical Education. Applicants should have work experience in a business, must be highly motivated and have the ability to be a strong classroom and program manager. Experience is preferred but not required.
This is a career track position, with medical insurance, board paid retirement, disability insurance, sick leave, personal leave, professional leave, and added payments for the cooperative work experience program and being the youth group advisor. This is a full-time Teaching Position with a minimum salary of $44,320 for a 182 day contract with work experience/youth group and Distance Education pay of up to $8,000 additional compensation. Additional salary consideration given for advanced training, work experience, and education.
