Reports To: Center Manager
Job Summary: Individuals who are enthusiastic, self-motivated, and enjoy teaching small children. This position requires the EHS Teacher to work closely with the center's Director and Supervisor to implement all of The Division of Child Development Rules and Regulations and Early Head Start guidelines. This position requires a person that can implement and fulfill the children's educational, developmental, cognitive, emotional, and social needs through effectively producing a lesson plan that will be geared to each child's individual needs. Any other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Management ability and a considerable amount of initiative.
- Must be able to plan, organize and supervise daily activities both inside and outside of the classroom.
- Demands creativity and imagination.
- Must be able to develop and approve lesson plans.
- Requires ability to coordinate and link various functions into an effective operation.
- Understanding of the needs of pre-school children and a concern of varying backgrounds.
- Requires ability to keep accurate records and maintain confidentiality.
- Should be able to prepare narrative and statistical reports.
- Must be willing to continue in Child Development Training requirements.
- Must have a car at disposal and valid driver’s license.
- Responsible for ensuring that all center operations are accomplished in full compliance with HeadStart Performance Standards, agency policies and procedures and North Carolina Day Care Licensing Regulations.
Education Requirements:
- Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education; Bachelor’s preferred
- Working towards Early Childhood Bachelor's Degree
- Early Childhood Credentials
- Required Work Experience:
Early Childhood Education: 1 year (Preferred)
