We are looking to add a Pricing Specialist Trainee to our growing Pricing Group. In this role you will be responsible for providing support as it relates to all facets of National/Local Accounts Pricing. You will assist in pricing analyses and ensure deadlines are met for each pricing request. You will also follow the guidance of the Pricing Manager when performing job duties, as work will be carefully examined for accuracy. What you’ll do on a typical day Review customer history and current shipment information to determine account status and proposed pricing increase. Determine correct density to use in costing, previous pricing increase and impact, any changes since last analysis, reviews claims history, searches for incorrect coding, and review payment history Work directly with the Account Manager to ensure all applicable accounts are included, the pricing request is understood, and negotiation tools are provided Follow up with various departments (e.g., National Accounts, Sales, service centers, Publications, Autorate, etc.) as needed throughout the analysis process to ensure all data is received and is sufficient to complete the analysis Coordinate pricing information for inclusion in bid proposal sent to customer Rework file as necessary throughout the negotiation process, providing various pricing options for further review Interact with service centers to determine correct operational information for costing Maintain Pricing Adjustment Request (PAR) Summary/Log and necessary documents for each file Review all compiled information with Pricing Manager for approval Electronically file all necessary spreadsheets, emails, and other pertinent documents Responsible for interacting with all internal departments and customers on a daily basis Participate in Pricing Department training which may include spending time at a service center to be exposed to various aspects of daily operations such as picking up/delivering freight, movement of freight in warehouse, dispatch, customer service, traffic, local sales, billing, OS&D, and/or Weight & Inspection The expectation is within 12-24 months, under direction of experienced personnel, the candidate demonstrates the knowledge and ability to satisfactorily perform the following tasks required for promotion to the Pricing Specialist position: Formulate adjustments to key variable cost elements to produce an accurate cost analysis Make formal presentations to the Pricing Committee outlining the customer’s request, summarizing current activity, and providing projections based on potential commitment of customer.
