HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT
In harmony with the YMCA mission, and the YMCA Learning Center Philosophy, the Assistant Teacher Intern shall assist the lead teacher in the implementation of activities to promote the social, physical, and intellectual growth of the children in her/his care.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain a friendly rapport with members/parents/co-teaching staff.
- Provide a superior level of care to all children.
- Assist lead teacher with the preparation of lesson plans, materials and implementation of the daily planned activities.
- Data collection for the upcoming national accreditation project of the YMCA Learning Center.
- Follow all YMCA, state regulations, and Paths to QUALITY safety and hygiene procedures.
- Comply with all YMCA policies and procedures.
- Maintain an acceptable attendance record.
- Other duties assigned as necessary for job well done.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Currently enrolled high school student and registered with Indiana Work & Learn account
- Aspirations of working in the field of Early Childhood or Elementary Education and appropriate coursework toward this path.
- Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively.
- Must have high level of alertness, concentration, initiative and ability to work independently.
- Ability to lift 30 lbs. and stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; occasionally stoop/bend.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times.
