Summary :
The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, treating, and preventing mental, emotional, substance abuse, and behavioral disorders with the use of medication, neuromodulation, and psychotherapy. This position is three (3) days in the community / field and two (2) days of Med Management in the office. The Assertive Community Treatment Team that you will be apart of is the highest level of enhanced service offered for adults in a community setting,
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Conducts psychiatric assessment of symptoms, providing treatment for diagnosis, and prescribing appropriate therapy and / or medication.
- Oversee the prescribed medical care of patients which includes regular screenings for medical conditions and assessment of wellness and health management.
- Evaluate and oversee behavioral reactions to medications including side effects; adjusting as needed.
- Conducts brief therapy.
- Collaborates with the Team Leader monitoring treatment and clinical supervision to the team.
- Collaborates with nurses in developing and implementing medication administration policies and procedures.
- Supervises non-medical team members on all aspects of psychiatric and non-psychiatric treatment and medications.
- Confers with patients’ relatives regarding illness and treatment.
- Regularly participates in daily team meetings and treatment planning meetings; attends daily team meetings in proportion to the time allocated on the team.
- Provides psychiatric back-up to the program after-hours and weekends.
- Ordering and reviewing any necessary labs associated with prescribed medications.
- Keeps medical records.
- Prepares psychiatric reports.
- Accurately document all billable encounters into Southeastern Integrated Care’s EMR (electronic medical record) system within 24 hours.
- All corrections will be entered within 24 hours of being notified
- Requires being comfortable working in the community / field three (3) days per week,
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
This position does not oversee staff.
