Southeastern Louisiana University's Student Support Services invites applications for the Assistant Director / Counselor position. The Assistant Director / Counselor assists the director in the management of staff, program coordination and planning, procurement of program supplies and evaluation of program effectiveness. In addition, the position requires the Assistant Director / Counselor assists in establishing campus partnerships and serving program participants through counseling and advising.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree in Education, Counseling, Social work, or Psychology. Two (2) years work experience. Minimum one (1) year working with students in a postsecondary setting.
DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Effective interpersonal skills that will allow he / she to relate to the complex educational and personal needs of low-income, first-generation participants and students with disabilities.
Applicants whose backgrounds are similar to students served is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work successfully with low income, first-generation participants and students with disabilities in postsecondary environments.
