Millbrook Library is seeking a Project Archivist for a grant-funded initiative to preserve, arrange, and describe the Bennett College Collection (50 cubic linear feet). This collection documents the 90 year history of Bennett College in Millbrook, NY, and includes papers, photographs, yearbooks, and assorted ephemera. The Project Archivist will be responsible for processing the collection and creating a finding aid in Encoded Archival Description (EAD) format. This is a temporary position funded by the New York State Archives Documentary Heritage Program, requiring a total of 280 hours (approximately 10-15 hours per week), to be completed during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 10 AM – 6 PM).
Responsibilities :
- Appraisal and description of materials.
- Writing, researching, and editing collection finding aid, Encoded Archival Description (EAD), and web content.
- Re-housing collection materials into archival folders and boxes.
- Working with library staff to document processing guidelines for future acquisitions.
