What are the responsibilities and job description for the PHARMACIST position at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center?
Working under the overall direction of the Director of Pharmacy, the Staff Pharmacist reviews all medication orders for appropriateness and supervises the medication dispensing process. The Staff Pharmacist performs various clinical functions to ensure appropriate use of medications, including allergy review, duplication of therapy, proper indication, appropriate medication dose, medication profile review, and drug/drug interactions. Clinical functions also include dosing and monitoring of medications per hospital policy, attending interdisciplinary rounds and team meetings, assisting with medication reconciliation, and providing drug information to patients and staff who prescribe and administer medication.
Staff pharmacists supervise pharmacy technicians in the day-to-day operations of the department. In the absence of the Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Supervisor, a staff pharmacist may be required to assume the essential responsibilities and perform the duties of the Director of Pharmacy.
