Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic High School Spanish Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will be passionate about language acquisition, Hispanic culture, and student engagement. The teacher will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive and immersive Spanish curriculum that builds students' proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and listening.
Responsibilities:
✔ Develop and implement an engaging and interactive Spanish curriculum aligned with state and national standards.
✔ Teach multiple levels of Spanish (e.g., Spanish I, II, III, and AP Spanish).
✔ Utilize immersive and student-centered teaching methods to develop language skills.
✔ Incorporate technology, music, literature, and authentic materials to enhance learning.
✔ Foster a communicative classroom environment where students feel confident using Spanish.
✔ Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments and adjust instruction accordingly.
✔ Encourage cultural appreciation by integrating Hispanic history, traditions, and customs into lessons.
✔ Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration regarding student progress and expectations.
✔ Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events.
Qualifications:
✔ Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Spanish, Spanish Education, or a related field.
✔ Teaching certification (preferred) or eligibility to obtain certification.
✔ Prior high school teaching experience preferred.
✔ Native or near-native fluency in Spanish.
✔ Strong knowledge of language acquisition strategies and best teaching practices.
✔ Ability to differentiate instruction and create an inclusive classroom environment.
✔ Proficiency in using technology and digital tools to enhance learning.
✔ Strong classroom management skills and the ability to foster a positive and engaging learning atmosphere.
Preferred Skills:
✔ Experience in Advanced Placement (AP) Spanish Language and Culture.
✔ Familiarity with project-based learning and interactive teaching strategies.
✔ Ability to organize cultural events, language clubs, or Spanish-speaking immersion activities.
