DESCRIPTION:
Southeastern Regional seeks a Chapter 74 Engineering Teacher to join the program. Candidates must hold a Chapter 74 Engineering License or meet the qualifications to obtain one. Satisfactory CORI, Statewide Applicant Fingerprint Identification Services (SAFIS), and SORI required. Bilingual preferred.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Map each grade curriculum to the Massachusetts Engineering Technology Frameworks.
Provide instruction in the content by the Massachusetts Vocational-Technical Frameworks in the specified career area.
Enforce all OSHA safety regulations within the career education setting.
Instruct students in the shop and the classroom.
Document student performance, behavior, and achievement within the career education setting.
Provides review and reinforcement of new concepts; supports students in the completion of their assigned tasks.
Demonstrate knowledge of students’ IEPs, as well as the accommodations and modifications necessary for student success; modify assignments, tests, and quizzes in collaboration with special educators, if required.
Develop resources for students to be successful, such as models, graphic organizers, copies of class notes, video clips, demonstrations, etc.
Participate as a member of the career area department; collaborate with teachers within the department.
Collaborate with teachers in academic disciplines to facilitate learning activities that are cross-curricular and project-based.
Collaborate with the Vocational Supervisor/Cooperative Education Coordinator to place students in their career areas.
Maintain documentation, including student performance, behavior, progress data, notation of student absences/tardies, and conversations with parents and administrators.
Provide content support outside of the general education classroom as necessary.
Integrate technology into the curriculum.
Respond to any correspondence, both oral and written, that comes from a parent or guardian.
Participate in conferences and meetings when appropriate; contribute observations and ideas.
Attend Advisory Board meetings twice per year, parent-teacher conferences, and Open House.
Keep current with changes in your career area; collaborate with Advisory Board members.
Accept additional responsibilities as may be required under the direction of the Vocational Supervisor(s).
Appointed candidates may be required to attend days (s) over the summer for orientation, training, etc.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Experience in Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Curriculum in Computer Integrated Manufacturing and Digital Electronics Engineering courses preferred
Experience with CAD software (Fusion 360, SolidWorks) and manual and/or CNC machining is desirable but not required.
Deliver innovative and experiential lessons, units, and projects that align with the MA CVTE Frameworks in Engineering
Foster competition and achievement by supporting SkillsUSA activities
Maintain timely record keeping via X2 (student information and grading system), and electronic student competency tracking
Experience using tools, machinery, and equipment in the Engineering industry in a safe manner.
Strong organizational skills and commuincation skills.
Strong technology skills.
The ability to meet deadlines and carry out initiatives as assigned by your supervisor(s).
The ability to be flexible with job assignments and performance responsibilities.
The ability to teach all high school grade levels (9-12) and post-secondary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must currently hold a Massachusetts Ch. 74 Engineering Technology license or meet the qualifications below to obtain one:
Bachelor’s degree or higher degree related to the subject matter and skills to be taught
Three years of recent (within the last seven years), full‐time employment experience directly related to engineering technology
Passing score of at least 70% on each test (written test and performance test) in engineering technology
One of the following:
Achieve a passing score on the Vocational Technical Literacy Skills Test
Achieve a passing score on the Communication and Literacy Skills Test

The required bachelor’s degree or higher degree would include at least 30 credits in subject matter related to the technical strand of the Vocational Technical Education Framework in engineering technology*. A person with a bachelor’s or higher degree without 30 credits in such subject matter must obtain 30 college credits in order to receive credit toward the licensure requirements for the required bachelor’s or higher degree related to the subject matter and skills to be taught.
A master’s degree may substitute for one of the three years of required employment experience, provided that the degree includes subject matter related to the Technical Knowledge and Skills strand (Strand 2) of the Vocational Technical Education Framework in Engineering Technology*, and/or in vocational education. The testing organization, NOCTI, handles the administration of the written and performance content tests.
