JOB GOAL To use leadership, supervisory and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each Technical Institute student. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Administers Technical Institute programs, including schedules, budget, professional development and advisory boards.
  • Maintains cooperative and effective relationships with the school district staff.
  • Demonstrates competence, leadership and personal example in the exercise of responsibility and authority.
  • Is responsible for assignment and supervision of Technical Institute staff.
  • Maintains institute records and prepares reports as needed.
  • Maintains and supervises Technical Institute inventory.
  • Writes postsecondary grants.
  • Coordinates a program of recruitment and admission.
  • Oversees extern and clinical programs.
  • Develops and implements professional development programs for faculty and staff.
  • Assures the provision of necessary support service for students.
  • Prepares responses for legal issues.
  • Prepares and administers department budget.
  • Recommends professional and non-professional candidates to the Superintendent.
  • Supervises and evaluates Technical Institute faculty and staff.
  • Recommends to the Superintendent all faculty and staff reappointments.
  • Develops institute calendar, instructors’ teaching schedule, faculty handbook, student handbook, financial aid handbook and enforces the regulations.
  • Maintains oversight of student records, report card system and attendance procedures.
  • Counsels students.
  • Develops and supervises Technical Institute book voucher system for students that qualify.
  • Oversees administration of National Certification examinations.
  • Organizes and directs all phases of Technical Institute graduations.
  • Establishes effective communication with public.
  • Maintains student records.
  • Maintains oversight regarding attendance records and hourly requirement for each student.
  • Processes Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission forms.
  • Develops short-term training contracts.
  • Coordinates Individual Referral contracts with appropriate local, state and federal agencies.
  • Recommends and evaluates potential short-term training programs.
  • Remains professionally current through readings, visitations, conference attendance, university programs and professional organizations.
  • Presents information about the Technical Institute to local schools, community and government organizations.
  • Develops new programs that align with local workforce employment needs.
  • Receives and reviews all applications for admission and develops procedures for acceptance of candidates.
  • Provides statistical information concerning admissions to the Superintendent and school committee.
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
  • Attends and reports at all School Committee meetings.
  • Oversees all financial aid activities and develops reports to appropriate agencies.
  • Oversees advertisements for the Technical Institute.
  • Works with business community to develop customized training programs.
  • Oversees activities of program certification by outside agencies.
  • Oversee completion of all mandated reports.
  • Maintain accurate program information on training program.
  • Represents the school district on adult education community committees as directed by the Superintendent.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent. QUALIFICATIONS:
  • The candidate shall have a Masters Degree from an accredited college.
  • Satisfy license requirements of the state Department of Education.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels within the school environment.
  • Ability to organize data and present it in an easily understood manner.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable. Reports to Superintendent. The superintendent will evaluate the performance of this position.
  • Salary : $144,932 - $169,384
