Patient Care Technician (PCT) for Dialysis - Mount Pleasant, IA
Southeastern Renal Dialysis (SRD) is seeking a compassionate, eager to learn and dedicated hard working individual to join our Dialysis healthcare team as a Patient Care Tech (PCT) in our Mount Pleasant Unit.
SRD provides the opportunity for on-the-job training in a fulfilling career in the specialized healthcare field as a Dialysis Patient Care Tech (PCT). As a PCT, you will be a vital part of a cross-functional team, working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and the Unit Nurse Manager, providing care and treatment to patients with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease. This specialized PCT position provides a flexible 30- to 40-hour work week, attributing to a positive work life balance, with competitive pay, and exceptional employee benefits package. The Mount Pleasant Unit offers is a 3-day workweek (Mon-Wed-Fri) with the opportunity to pick up additional hours at one of our sister locations.

What you'll be doing as a PCT.
Patient care. You will work directly with patients to provide safe, comfortable, and high-quality dialysis treatment. Responsibilities include gathering patient stats before and after treatment, putting patients on treatment, monitoring patients during treatment, taking patients from treatment, and collecting patient blood samples per physician orders.
Technician Duties. You will ensure quality comes first by preparing machines for hemodialysis treatments, cleaning, and disinfecting machines after treatments, and conducting machine safety checks and logging results for quality control, ensuring all protocols and regulations are followed.
Safety and Quality. You will use appropriate safety measures, including personal protective equipment. Working under the supervision of an RN, you will adhere to all company policies, procedures, and state/federal laws and regulations. You will be required to participate in all required staff meetings and continuing education offerings.
What we're looking for in a PCT employee.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Desire to work in healthcare and care for patients.
- Previous healthcare experience in dialysis, phlebotomy, or as a CNA is a plus.
- Ability to distinguish all primary colors.
- Ability to successfully complete SRD’s on the job training program led by our Education Coordinator that will teach you the HOW’s (the practice of hemodialysis); the WHY’s (courses in the theory) as well as demonstrate competencies in hemodialysis.
- CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
- SRD will provide you with all the tools to obtain your Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) within 18 months of hire and the ability to maintain this certification in good standing thereafter.
- Ability to read and write and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must be comfortable working around blood and needles.
- Ability to prioritize and complete work in a timely manner.
- Ability to work in a team environment and to collaborate with a variety of staff members in a positive manner.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
