Position Summary
The Schedule Coordinator is responsible for facilitating, coordinating, organizing and overall management of the daily flow of the surgery schedule.
Principal Responsibilities
- This individual is accountable to the Director of Nursing / Clinical Director of ASC Excellence.
- Coordinates with the Scheduling RN team to ensure the template is being followed and there is an adherence to the standardized number of cases and case mixes for each day. Is also responsible for making sure the arrangement of cases is coordinated with, and flows with, the OR and Procedure Hall schedules for each Physician.
- Coordinates and collaborates with the Scheduling RN Team, Charge Nurse and Front desk with regard to add on surgeries.
- In coordination with the Charge Nurse, tracks and monitors first case starts and any obstacles to on time starts and room turns.
- Collaborates with the Charge Nurse through the day for any delays, same day cancellations or equipment issues in order to modify the schedule and minimize delays.
- Coordinates with the Scheduling RN Team for any Pre-Op need such as labs, medical clearances, etc.
- Responsible for calling patients with arrival times for next day procedures.
- Responsible for maintaining the Stent book and escalating any scheduling needs to the RN team.
- Responsible to assist the Unit Secretary to ensure that all needed clearance paperwork is in the chart and that chart checks have been completed for next day cases.

- Functions as a facility customer service manager to patients, physicians, team members and others
- Continuously studies and improves the process of providing health care services to meet the needs of patients, physicians, team members and others.
- Documents patient care services by charting in the patient?s medical record and other records.
- Reports off to the Clinical Director of ASC Excellence or designee at the end of each day.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and protects operations by keeping information confidential and only accessing information on a need-to-know basis to maintain patient continuity care.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies and maintain adequate CEU?s if applicable.
- Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care team members by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem solving methods.
- Supports and follows Southeastern Surgery Center policies and procedures.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
- Understands and performs accurately responsibilities and duties assigned during Fire, Disaster, and Bomb drills and/or actual events.
- Recognizes symptoms of cardiac arrest, respiratory distress and/or other impending crisis and initiates the necessary emergency action.
- Completes other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- CPR certification
- Knowledge of Patient Rights
- Knowledge of facility and departmental policies and Procedures and the application and the Function of other areas within the facility (See Policy and Procedure Manual)
- Knowledge of facility and departmental fire safety regulations, electrical hazards, disaster plans, and infection control policies and their application
- Knowledge of specialized equipment used in each unit assigned.
