What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mobile Meals Driver/Janitor position at Southeastern Utah Association of Local Governments?
Overall Responsibility:
Loads and delivers meals to senior clients. Cleans and maintains delivery vehicle and containers.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Learn route and delivers meals in a stop and go fashion. Meals are prepared by others but loaded by the delivery driver.
- Must make visual or audible contact with the senior.
- Cleans ovens, coolers and carriers as well as delivery vehicle.
- Maintains records of meals delivered and vehicle maintenance.
- Prepares reports on activities for the Mobile Meal Coordinator.
- Collects donation monies from mobile meal clients.
- Delivery driver is also responsible to make sure heating and cooling system as well as the delivery vehicle is working properly.
- Responsible for minor maintenance of trucks, including but not limited to fueling, oil checks, washer fluid, etc.
Skills and Attributes:
- Must be scrupulously clean and be able to learn a complex route.
- Ability to help seniors solve problems relating to the service.
- Ability to recognize problems with delivery vehicle.
- Must genuinely enjoy working with seniors and be sympathetic to the problems of shut-ins.
Experience Requirement:
- Food handler’s permit required
- Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Requires valid Utah driver license.
- Experience in route driving preferred.
- Experience working with the elderly preferred.
- Must never have been convicted of an alcohol or drug related moving violation.
Physical Effort/Environment:
- Work is performed outside and in any weather condition.
- When talking one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly
- Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information
- Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to drive vehicle
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs. on a regular basis.
This is a part-time, non-benefitted position. Approximately 10 hours per week.
