Emergency Department | Cape Girardeau, MO | 72-ETO
Job Summary- Actively participates in purposeful rounding and documents in patient care record
- Obtains and accurately documents vital signs on patients per department policy
- Answers call lights in a timely manner and reports any changes in behavior or patient condition to primary nurse or charge nurse
- Performs or assists patients with activities of daily living as needed or directed
- Transports patients to/from other departments and upon admission
- Documents all care provided accurately and in a timely manner
- Functions as a Patient Safety Attendant as needed with appropriate training
- Stocks supplies in patient care rooms
- Turnover of rooms to include cleaning, changing linens and removing trash after each patient encounter
- Performs finger stick glucose, reporting out of range values to primary nurse
- Collects specimens and send/transport to lab: Wound cultures; Clean catch urine; MRSA, COVID, Influenza, and Strep swabs
- Required to attend training and demonstrate competency (if indicated) for: Phlebotomy - venous blood draws and blood cultures; 12 lead EKGs � lead placement and printing; Foley Catheter insertion and urine specimen collection; Splinting, wound care and dressings; Interpretation of fatal cardiac rhythms; Care of the Behavioral Health Patient
- Any other duties as needed to drive the Vision, fulfill the Mission and abide by the Values of the organization
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Attended an approved UAP training course, or has documented experience as a nurse assistant, emergency medical technician (EMT) or surgical technician in the past three (3) years as noted in state regulations.
- BLS - Basic Life Support required
