Job Title:Processing Technician

Reports To:Lead/Supervisor/Director of Processing and Manufacturing



The Processing Technician supports the Processing and Manufacturing team through preparation and execution of various processes within the department. The Processing Technician will be responsible for processing cannabis plant material into various forms, ensuring compliance with MS DOH regulatory standards and maintaining a high level of product quality. This role involves operating machinery, monitoring processes, and collaborating with other team members in a dynamic cannabis processing environment. Taking direction from the Department Lead, Manager, or Director, the Processing Technician will strictly follow Company policies, standard operating procedures and quality control measures to maintain production of high-quality marijuana infused products (MIPs).

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Processing Operations
    • Execute the processing of cannabis plant material including trimming, grinding, extraction, and manufacture of marijuana infused products (MIPs).
    • Operate and maintain processing equipment such as extraction systems, concentrate filling machines, pre-roll equipment, infused edibles cookers, and flower packaging line.
  • Quality Control
    • Conduct manufacturing quality control checks on processed products to ensure compliance with Company standards and MS DOH regulatory requirements.
    • Document and report deviations from quality standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Regulatory Compliance
    • Stay informed about and adhere to local and MS state regulations governing cannabis processing.
    • Ensure all processing activities are conducted in accordance with regulatory guidelines and maintain accurate records.
  • Safety and Cleanliness
    • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
    • Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials, following safety guidelines.
  • Collaboration
    • Work collaboratively with cultivation and inventory teams to facilitate smooth workflow and efficient production.
    • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to address any issues or improvements in the processing workflow.
  • Equipment Maintenance
    • Perform routine maintenance on processing equipment to ensure optimal performance.
    • Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or need for repairs promptly.
  • Documentation
    • Keep accurate records of processing activities, including batch tracking, inventory management, quality and production KPIs.
    • Complete required documentation for compliance purposes.
  • Training and Development
    • Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies and participate in training sessions to enhance technical skills.
    • Assist in training new team members on processing procedures.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and maintains a positive working relationship with coworkers.
  • Follow all standard procedures and security measures to safeguard against diversion.
  • Document meetings, taking notes, and following directions of extraction lead/supervisor/director.
  • Present themselves in a professional and helpful manner.
  • Able to communicate and follow directions appropriately.
  • Maintain a sense of urgency and be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Allow for a flexible work schedule by assisting in other departments when needed.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High-school diploma or equivalent. Additional education in a relevant field is a plus.
  • General cannabis education is preferred but not required.
  • Comfortable in a manufacturing environment with industrial noise.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot processing equipment effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality products.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills, physical ability to perform processing work, and professionalism to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form; ability to uphold a strict level of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
