Job Summary : The Construction Management faculty member will instruct students in courses and labs that encompass the theoretical and hands-on aspects of residential and commercial construction and related processes. Courses in the program include but are not limited to building science; residential and commercial estimating; scheduling and planning; construction contract administration; 3-D modeling; blueprint reading; construction safety; electrical; masonry and concrete, plumbing, carpentry, residential building codes;
Duties and Responsibilities :
Teaches courses and skills through a biblical, faith-based world view with a missional mindset
Respects and upholds university values
Demonstrates behavior congruent to these values with students in classrooms and lab spaces; and with campus colleagues
Implements and upholds university and departmental policies in the classroom
Prepares instructional materials and instructs students in courses in the construction management program
Develops and / or selects appropriate instructional materials for all assigned courses
Performs duties associated with instructing and assessing student progress in a timely way. These include but are not limited to grading and required record keeping according to university guidelines
Teaches day and evening classes and / or labs as required
Stays current in the construction field and various trade skills
Mentors students in the construction management program; assists with networking in the industry
Proactively communicates, meets, and coordinates with the department chair in planning and developing curriculum, instructional procedures, and instructional consistency
Represents construction management and applied technology as needed in planning meetings
Participates in departmental functions such as staff meetings, committee work, faculty evaluations, curriculum development, etc. as needed
Performs all other reasonably business-related functions as assigned by the department chair
Special Requirements : Have an expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, a SDA church member in good and regular standing.
Employment Qualifications : (Required)
Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with university students
Demonstrated competencies in the varied trade area(s) relevant to course content(s) and ideally experience in commercial construction
Earned Master's degree or higher in a construction management related field from an accredited institution; or equivalent foreign degree, plus two years of professional experience directly related to construction and construction management
Demonstrated ability to develop curriculum in accordance with industry standards
Experience with skill / trade practices and trends; willingness to integrate new skills and technology
Employment Qualifications : (Desirable)
Successful college-level teaching experience
General Contractors license
Demonstrated formal training and continuing education in the skills / trades
Recent professional work experience in construction and / related fields
Knowledge of health and safety regulations of TN and O.S.H.A. regulations
Completion of courses or training in educational theory and practice
