Job Summary : The website development manager works closely with the director of Marketing and University Relations and website design manager to create and implement the strategy and goals for the university website. This position requires a high level of proficiency in full-stack development and website architecture and the ability to juggle multiple competing priorities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop compelling website features, including front-end programming of designed elements and template implementation within the content management systemPartner with the website design manager to refine the overall look and functionality of the university website and shape its strategic development and creative directionEnsure the university website successfully incorporates Southern's key messages, brand, and visual identityEvaluate and implement innovative ideas and technologies for the university website and other interactive mediaCoordinate periodic functionality and accessibility improvements for the website and maintain knowledge of the university's website update needsCollaborate with Information Technology for web server maintenance and app developmentEvaluate and refine existing web workflow processes, as necessary, to ensure best practicesHire, supervise, and mentor student web developersProactively develop interactive elements to improve perceptions of the universityCollaborate with the rest of the Marketing and University Relations team and other campus departments to develop and maintain website features that further the mission of the universityContract with freelancers to assist with workflow when necessaryProvide support to university website content editorsPerform special assignments as requestedSkills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in related fieldHTML, CSS, and JavaScriptThe ability to design the overall architecture of the university website as well as maintain quality and ensure responsiveness and accessibility of web applicationsProven organization skills and the ability to maintain code integrityExperience working with designers and converting designs to visual elementsProficient experience with back-end (PHP, node.js) programming languagesHighly experienced using advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as Vue and ReactExperience working within an enterprise content management systemDevelopment experience for both mobile and desktopSpecial Requirements :

Typical Physical Demands :
Requires sitting, standing, bending, and reaching. It may require lifting up to 25 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, and telephones. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
Working Conditions :
Essential tasks are performed under normal office / school conditions with little or no noticeable discomfort. The work area is well lit and ventilated.
