**Position:** Academic Math Coach

**Location:** Southern Avenue Charter Elementary School, Memphis, TN

**Schedule:** Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 8:00 AM - 2:40 PM

**Compensation:** $180 per day

**Overview:**

Southern Avenue Charter Elementary School is seeking a passionate and skilled **Academic Math Coach** to support elementary school students in developing strong mathematical foundations. This role focuses on improving math instruction across all grade levels (K-5) by working closely with teachers, providing individualized support for students, and promoting effective math teaching strategies. The ideal candidate will be a motivated, solutions-oriented educator with a deep understanding of elementary mathematics, a love for teaching, and a dedication to supporting student success.

**Key Responsibilities:**

**Teacher Support & Coaching:**

• Collaborate with classroom teachers to enhance math instruction, helping them implement effective strategies for engaging students in mathematical thinking.
• Provide in-the-moment coaching during math lessons, offering real-time feedback and modeling best practices for math instruction.
• Assist teachers in analyzing student data to identify trends, gaps, and instructional needs, and provide strategies for differentiating math instruction.

**Student Support & Intervention:**

• Provide targeted, small-group, and one-on-one math interventions to students who need additional support, focusing on foundational skills and concept mastery.
• Help students develop problem-solving strategies, foster their mathematical thinking, and build confidence in their math abilities.
• Implement enrichment activities for students who are excelling, encouraging a deeper exploration of math concepts.

**Curriculum Development & Implementation:**

• Collaborate with teachers to align math instruction with state standards, ensuring consistency across grade levels and effective implementation of the curriculum.
• Support the adaptation of math materials to meet the diverse needs of students, including students with varying levels of proficiency and learning styles.

**Data-Driven Instruction:**

• Use formative and summative assessments to assess student progress in math and inform instructional decisions.
• Analyze student performance data to identify areas of improvement and develop strategies for addressing learning gaps.
• Track the effectiveness of interventions and adjust strategies as needed to maximize student growth in mathematics.

**Professional Development:**

• Lead or facilitate professional development sessions for teachers on best practices in math instruction, differentiation, and math-specific pedagogical strategies.
• Stay current on emerging trends in elementary math education, bringing new ideas and methods to the school community.

**Collaboration with School Leaders:**

• Work closely with school leadership to monitor overall progress in math achievement and contribute to the development of school-wide math goals.
• Participate in grade-level meetings to offer expertise and insights into improving math instruction school-wide.

**Qualifications:**

• Bachelors degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field (required).
• Proven experience in elementary mathematics instruction (minimum of 3 years preferred).
• Strong understanding of elementary math concepts, curriculum, and instructional strategies.
• Experience with data analysis and using assessment results to guide instruction.
• Ability to build positive relationships with teachers, students, and families.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• A passion for mathematics and a desire to help students develop a love for the subject.

**Physical Demands:**

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds (e.g., carrying instructional materials).
