Who We Are:
Job Summary: This position provides prompt, efficient, and friendly service to customers, involving the receipt and payment of cash, while recognizing customers' needs with suggestions appropriate to the Bank's services. The employee follows established policies and procedures for this area, in accordance with the Bank’s guidelines and the supervisor's direction.
Responsibilities:
- Responds to customer inquiries as appropriate.
- Maintains proper cash levels in drawers, keeps cash secure, and ensures a high level of safety for the Bank.
- Accepts checks for cashing, receives checking and related accounts, accepts deposits, verifies cash and endorsements, makes change, and issues receipts.
- Receives savings deposits, pays withdrawals after verifying balance and signature, and redeems U.S. Savings Bonds.
- Receives loan payments when installment loan coupons accompany payments.
- Processes night deposits and mail-in deposits.
- Processes cashier’s checks, cash advances, and other Bank services. Accepts applications and issues U.S. Savings Bonds.
- May service ATMs according to schedule or need.
- May accept tax deposits and various utility payments.
- Opens safety deposit boxes.
- Completes Currency Transaction Reports (CTR) as needed.
- Performs the duties of branch Customer Service Representative (CSR) on a scheduled Saturday rotation.
- May assist with opening new accounts.
- Cross-sells Bank and affiliate services.
- Completes all required training.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One to two years of customer service and cash handling experience required; experience in a bank or similar financial institution preferred.
- Strong customer contact skills to meet and greet the public in a friendly and courteous manner, responding to a variety of situations in a professional manner.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of the Bank’s records and customer transactions.
- Detail-oriented, accurate, and able to multi-task; possesses good mathematical aptitude.
- Ability to operate a computer terminal, 10-key, and other general office equipment.
- Willingness to be involved and represent Southern Bancorp through civic and community organizations.
