Responsibilities
- Manages the technical activities of one or more moderate, short to mid-term projects or programs with responsibility for results in terms of costs, schedule, methods and project objectives. May manage large, complex and high-risk projects or programs with oversight from senior leadership
- Exercises considerable latitude and judgement in developing technical plans, schedules, and resources, directing activities and actions, and determining deliverables. With oversight of leadership, develops strategy and business plans, objectives and initiatives for engineering projects and seeks approval from management in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and guidelines; with review of a senior manager or principal manager; leads the development, and management of the engineering schedule; leads technical change control process
- Decides appropriate methods, procedures for new projects with significant independence
- Engages with all levels of management and acts as a key consultant for both functional and business issues. Regularly contributes to materials for executive and senior management on project related issues and prescribed milestones for approval.
- Leads engineering design reviews and evaluation of technical project documents to identify gaps, errors, or areas for improvement. Reviews engineering drawings, specifications, and site plans to ensure constructability and compliance with regulations and identifies issues or gaps proactively
- Oversee development of project execution plans, procedures, testing protocols, and quality control programs that align with engineering requirements
- Facilitates integration of engineering design deliverables, reviews, drawings, models, specs, calculations into overall project execution plans
- Coordinate multiple internal matrixed and outside stakeholder input and technical deliverables to support the overall project progress. Apply technical knowledge and experience and engage SMEs to provide technical judgment and experience to enable risk-informed technical oversight of projects
- Develop contract bid specifications that include project scope, specifications, requirements, performance and acceptance criteria, etc. Ensure work scope is developed so that technical risk and value engineering decisions are made in a way that benefits the overall project and company needs
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
- Seven or more years of experience in engineering project management.
- Posses a valid Class C Driver's License.
- B.S. in Engineering
- P.E. License
- PMP Certificate
- Experience in power generation, construction, and utilities
- Specialized experience in civil, geotechnical, electrical, controls, protection, or mechanical engineering relevant to thermal and/or hydro power generation assets
- Experiencing managing the delivery of scope, schedule, and budget commitments by engineering design contractors
- This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

- Position will require up to 40% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
- This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
