The job …

The Meter Tech 4 will work in cooperation with MT5s in completing single phase work throughout multiple areas, they need to be a self-starter as they will work alone on most days. You will drive a Company vehicle throughout SCE territory and there is room for growth and advancement. You will need to understand the principals of electricity, have basic computer skills as well as being knowledgeable in algebra and trigonometry.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

• Installs, programs, reads, interrogates, performs accuracy test, inspects, and maintains meters and metering related equipment on all single-phase services energized up to 300 volts for utility and non-utility companies.
• Installs and programs self-contained polyphase meters and metering related equipment on services up to 300 volts. Installs and verifies proper installation of metering equipment such as current transformers, secondary wiring, and metering equipment on de-energized polyphase services.
• Assists a Meter Technician 5 as necessary.
• Ensures integrity, safety, and accuracy of metering installations by checking for and reporting: Edison electric service requirements violations; conditions such as grounds and irregular connections that might affect quality or continuity of service as well as proper functioning of the service’s metering equipment; energy diversion.
• Perform tests, takes measurements, and investigates single phase services to determine if any metering errors exist or if there is defective metering-related equipment. Prepare reports as directed. If possible, determines cause of metering errors and/or defective metering equipment and makes corrections to leave service safe and within compliance, or notifies appropriate party of conditions requiring further attention. Drive a company vehicle.

The essential

• Experience with the proper procedures in the installation, operation, and function of watt-hour metering equipment and test equipment
• Valid Driver's License

The preferred

• Wire and install metering-related equipment on single phase metering installations and polyphase metering installations to ensure accurate metering.

• Work Mode: This position’s work mode is on-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

Testing

• This position requires testing and applicants who are identified to continue through the selection process will be invited to test via email. Please access our information guides to reference test(s): Edison Individual Contributor (Test 8203), Meter Technician 4 Performance (Test 4682), and Meter Technician 4 (Test 2684).
• Meter Tech 4 (2684). Candidates who have previously passed this assessment, in some cases, may not need to retest again for this position.
