What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Legal Advisor position at Southern Careers Institute?
Southern Careers Institute is seeking an energetic Corporate Legal Advisor to join their team. The Corporate Legal Advisor is responsible for researching, reviewing and providing counsel on state and federal regulations related to the operation of institutions of higher education. Interprets regulations and provides a business sensitive, value added approach to the delivery of high-quality work product and adequate legal controls on a timely basis.
This is a Hybrid position, with two days working at the office and 3 days working remote.
- Advises Leadership on new laws, existing laws and legal rights that would impact functionality of the business;
- Provides legal services concerning procurement and contracting laws, rules, policies, and procedures;
- Negotiates contracts. Drafts, reviews, and edits agreements, terms and conditions, forms, and other procurement and contracting documents;
- Reviews federal and state requirements, researches protocols, and other government, local, and Institute mandates to ensure that the Institute and its employees are in compliance with these regulations;
- Ensures that organization’s objectives are aligned to regulatory guidelines that yield the highest standards of student achievement and instructional excellence;
- Updates procedures and policies to ensure fulfillment of current and new regulatory obligations;
- Avoids legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation; enforcing regulations; recommending new procedures; complying with legal requirements;
- Provides general advice and assistance on other matters assigned;
- With outside counsel, represents the company as assigned in litigation matters; researches and analyzes legal issues and prepares legal memoranda, pleadings, briefs, notices, motions, and orders; and gathers and reviews evidence, prepares discovery responses and affidavits, and otherwise assists in the defense or prosecution of litigation;
