Logistics Manager’s Job Description
The logistics manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all aspects of patient transportation logistics, including coordinating vehicle scheduling, managing driver assignments, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, optimizing routes, and maintaining communication between healthcare facilities, patients, and drivers, all while prioritizing patient safety and timely transport
Key Responsibilities:
· Fleet Management:
o Manage and maintain a fleet of medical transport vehicles, including scheduling maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
o Monitor Vehicle Utilization and optimize routes to maximize efficiency.
o Ensure vehicles are properly equipped with necessary medical supplies and safety features.
· Driver Management:
o Recruit, hire and train qualified medical transport drivers, ensuring they meet all licensing and certification requirements.
o Assign drivers to patient transport requests based on availability and expertise.
o Monitor driver performance, including adherence to safety protocols and patient care standards.
· Patient Scheduling and Coordination:
o Receive patient transport requests from healthcare facilities, coordinating pick-up and drip-off times.
o Manage patient data including medical needs, special requirements, and insurance information.
o Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare providers regarding transportation arrangements.
· Compliance and Regulations:
o Ensure all transportation activities comply with relevant state and federal regulations regarding medical transport
o Stay updated on industry standards and best practices for patient safety.
o Maintain necessary documentation and records related to patient transport.
· Cost Management:
o Monitor and control transportation costs, including fuel, maintenance, and driver salaries.
o Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize budget.
· Technology Utilization:
o Implement and manage transportation management systems (TMS) to track vehicle locations, driver schedules, and patient status.
o Utilize date analytics to identify operational inefficiencies and improve transportation logistics.
Required skills and qualifications:
· At least three years of experience in transportation management, preferably with the healthcare industry.
· Knowledge of medical terminology and patient care standards.
· Strong organizational and planning skills to manage complex schedules.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, healthcare providers, and drivers.
· Proficiency in using transportation management software and data analysis tools.
· Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain necessary medical transportation certifications.
· Leading and developing a team of dispatchers and drivers and other related personnel.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
