Job Summary:
This position manages 3 to 4 professional accounting staff in the performance of duties relating to revenue accounting and unclaimed property management. This position is responsible for ensuring that journal entries are recorded in accordance with GAAP, and that relevant internal controls, including SOX controls, are performed properly. The group provides information for internal and external financial reporting, performs balance sheet reconciliations, and designs and performs adhoc analysis to answer business questions – often from Rates and Regulatory groups. The position includes independent interaction with both internal and external auditors, Municipal and State employees with regards to unclaimed property and revenue taxes, and customers who have questions on unclaimed property items.

Required: BA/BS degree in Accounting, or equivalent academic education

Public accounting experience
Applicant may possess a combination of equivalent education and work experience.

Intermediate knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
ERP (e.g., PeopleSoft, Oracle, etc.) and reporting (e.g., TM1, Essbase, etc.) experience – advanced proficiency
MS Word – intermediate proficiency
MS Excel –advanced proficiency
Strong organizational and cross-functional coordination skills
Team player and with the ability to work independently
Preferred:
Database experience (MS Access or other) demonstrating the ability to design and implement queries and reports
Experience in ERP systems implementation
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Travel Requirements: 5 to 10% annually. The incumbent may be required to travel. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.
Work Environment: The incumbent works in an office environment.

- Manages a professional staff of 3 to 4 accountants 1
- Performing necessary validation and close related tasks to ensure accurate and timely close process.
- Oversees the recording of basic to complex transactions, in the general ledger and in the revenue reporting system; determines and makes appropriate adjustments.
- Oversees the performance of general ledger account reconciliations; analyzes and researches outstanding items/issues.
- Generation of standard and non-standard reports; analyzes data; tests for reasonableness.
- Perform internal controls, recognizes and promptly reports issues when they arise, and suggests improvements to make controls more effective.
- Participates in the testing and implementation of business system changes related to revenue or unclaimed property
- Calculates, reviews, and analyzes financial information; analyzes variances; uses professional judgment and expertise to perform complex estimates and calculations.
