CCR PROGRAM MANAGER

This is a hybrid position with a combination of travel to assigned job sites (currently expected to be Plant McDonough and Plant Wansley), remote, and office.

The expectation is that this person should have a strong presence on assigned jobsites, at minimum weekly (approximately 50% travel with almost all being to job sites or in GA).

** Daily reporting facility/building can be flexible based on new team members location.

JOB SUMMARY

This position reports directly to the CCR Strategy and Oversite Manager and is responsible for oversight and direction of assigned CCR Projects such as ash pond closures, landfill closures, and landfill siting and development.

This position will manage sensitive multi-year CCR Projects in Georgia Power’s ash pond closure program, facilitate major project decisions, ensure measures to minimize risks are addressed in landfill development/operations and ash pond closures, coordinate permitting activities with the EA Permitting Team, and ensure that engineering is coordinated with internal support organizations/SCS Projects and Construction/SCS Technical Services/third party engineering consultants, etc.

These projects range in cost from tens of millions to hundreds of millions of dollars. This position will ensure projects and project teams have proper governance, meet proper budgeting/scheduling requirements, meet regulatory requirements, are managed consistently with other CCR projects, mitigate risk measures appropriately, and adhere to and track the appropriate project controls metrics.

This position will regularly update the CCR Group, the EA Department, and GPC Company Leadership with projects metrics, cost performance, reporting requirements, and important project initiatives/issues.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate the design, engineering, procurement, and construction activities for multiple CCR projects in Georgia. Includes leading cross-functional teams and coordination with Generation, SCS Projects and Construction, SCS Technical Services, and third-party engineering consultants.
  • Coordinate permitting activities between the TSS Projects Team and the Environmental Affairs Permitting Team to ensure permitting needs are understood by the Teams and achievable deadlines are established.
  • Ensure safety, compliance, and quality are maintained at all times during the project life cycle.
  • Provide regular updates/communication status of projects. Provide proactive communication when problems arise that will impact costs, schedule, or the external public.
  • Monitor and analyze the project budget to coordinate updates for Capital/ARO accounting requirements, financial reporting, etc.
  • Identify needed tasks, milestones, and resource requirements for assigned projects. Balance budgets, schedules, environmental requirements, regulatory requirements, and community impacts in order to meet project needs.
  • Ensure CCR project issues and decisions are properly communicated.
  • Support Co-Owner requests and communication needs.
  • Manage CCR projects to meet regulatory requirements and minimize environmental risks.
  • Support any internal or external governance reviews preformed on the program/projects.
  • Monitor and analyze progress on each project and communicate as needed with internal and external parties. Adjust work plans and resource requirements as changes occur.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills )

Education & Job Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science preferred / Extensive project management experience required.
  • Prior experience working with or for Civil/Environmental Engineering Consultants a plus.
  • 10 Years Experience with project management principles and techniques. Professional accreditations and certifications a plus.
  • Experience with coal generation, coal combustion residuals management, general environmental, engineering, project controls, and quality control.
  • Ability to understand or experience with engineering principles, electric operating practices, construction practices, CCR regulations, budgeting, scheduling, contracts, and general business practices.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate progress, identify problem areas, evaluate alternatives and determine viable solutions.

Travel Requirements

This position is a combination of travel to assigned job sites (currently expected to be Plant McDonough and Plant Wansley), remote, and office. Fleet Driving Requirements

This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle. The following will be required if you are selected for this position:

  • Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver’s license).
  • Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.
  • Must consent to a continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record
