Job Summary
This position is responsible for statewide planning, coordinating, and supervising multiple projects within Georgia Power Company Transmission Construction. A Specialist is responsible for estimating, scheduling, and monitoring contractor performance to ensure safety, quality & production.
The vendor activities may include : civil grading, foundation installation, silvicultural / initial clearing activities, geotechnical drilling & testing, counterpoise, directional boring / trenching, and environmental compliance. The candidate should have working knowledge of construction project standards including excavation best practices, various foundation types, concrete & asphalt work, ACI & ASTM standards, counterpoise specifications, surveying, USACE Standards, & NPDES GAR 100002 permitting. In addition, the candidate should have excellent communication skills and working knowledge of industry software. Applicant must understand civil design drawings, especially in the areas of topographical cut / fill, erosion control, and construction layout. Candidate must ensure that work is completed safely and that it stays in compliance with industry specifications and environmental regulations. Applicant must be able to effectively articulate these activities to property owners, contractors, project managers, GPC management, and represent the company in a professional manner. The candidate must be able to utilize appropriate accounting principles to ensure appropriate project spend. This position is based in Forest Park, GA, but will involve considerable statewide travel & routine overnight stays throughout the state of Georgia.
Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)
Education Level & Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma / GED. 5 years' experience in related field preferred
- 4 year or higher degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or Forestry. 5 plus years' experience in related field preferred.
