Southern Development & Construction, Inc (SDC) was established 1994 and is a growing private contractor concentrating on complete site development services (underground utility, earthwork, and paving) in the Central Florida area for subdivisions, apartments, commercial and public projects. We are looking for a General Superintendent to oversee all aspects of Site Development Project. Summary
The General Superintendent will provide oversight to the field operations. He or she will be responsible for overall safety, client satisfaction, resolving job issues and profit/ loss on their assigned projects.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience superintendent role with significant site development and site utilities experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Including but not limited to:
- Handle job issues and potential change orders.
- Ensure client satisfaction during the construction progress.
- Interview, hire, provide direction, evaluate performance, recommend pay adjustments, and
- when necessary, discipline or discharge subordinates.
- Attend all in-house and customer pre-construction meetings.
- Attend project progress meetings when possible.
- Directly supervise superintendents.
- Work with superintendents to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with the plans and budget.
- Ensure contract requirements are understood and being followed.
- Ensure that all company and rented equipment is maintained properly and not abused.
- Ensure that all projects begin with a “Daily Safety Huddle” and promote zero lost time accidents.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have knowledge and experience in civil construction, managing pipe crews as well as civil concrete work.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to oversee and coordinate a variety of people in different roles.
- Extremely detail oriented.
- Ability to read, understand, and execute blueprints, drawings, and plans.
- Thorough understanding of quality building practices.
- Ability to quickly identify problems and efficiently solve them.
- Knowledge of OSHA, local safety laws, and other regulatory agencies.
- Clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
- Use of personal protective equipment is required at the job sites
