Job Description
This is a seasonal role from June to August supporting the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The Office Assistant supports the Camp Office Manager and provides customer service throughout the season.
Essential Functions:
- Provide exceptional customer service in person, by phone, and via email.
- Ensure safe and smooth arrival and departure of campers.
- Maintain accurate and timely attendance and dismissal records.
- Contribute to organizing and participating in camp events.
- Work closely with the Camp Office Manager to complete administrative projects and tasks efficiently.
- Ensure site cleanliness.
- Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with camp programs.
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
- Complete required abuse risk management training.
- Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
- Adhere to job-specific abuse risk management responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous customer service, sales or related experience preferred.
- Experience with computers.
- Possess a welcoming and helpful manner.
- Ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work as part of a team for the success of the camp.
- Must be able to complete YMCA required training as scheduled by management.
- Maintain updated certifications of the job (CPR and First Aid/AED).
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to bend, kneel, push, and pull.
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
- Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate needs.
- Ability to view computer monitor for extended periods.
- Ability to respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in emergency situations.
