Endocrinology Nurse Practitioner
JOB DUTIES:
- Performs comprehensive appraisal of patients 18 years and up.
- Assists endocrinologist with inpatient and outpatient follow-up care of patients especially those with diabetes.
- Assumes clinical responsibility for the following tasks performed within the Nurse Practitioners scope of practice including
o taking patients history,
o performing physical examination,
o ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests,
o prescribing appropriate therapy,
o calling patients with results,
o refilling medications,
o providing patient education,
o as well as assisting in the admission of patients to the hospital.
- Provides diabetic education.
- Arranges consultations and referrals for patients with chronic illnesses.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Provides diabetic education.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Registered and certified in TX as an ADULT Nurse Practitioner.
- ACLS certified.
- Familiarity with EMR System, coding and billing guidelines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Good organizational skills.
- One year Internal Medicine clinic experience preferred.
- Bilingual (Spanish/ English) preferred.
- BLS/ACLS provider.
- Diabetic educator desirable.
