Appointment Scheduling / Telephone Room / Medical Office
Southern Eye Center, South Mississippi’s premier ophthalmic medical and surgical practice is seeking a person with a friendly but professional telephone manner, who is well organized, to answer our telephones and schedule patient appointments and assist with all related duties. As you may be the first person from our office to have contact with new patients and referring doctors’ offices, you must be able to make a great first impression.
Primary duty of this position include:
Responsible for scheduling patient appointments by telephone within the guidelines set by Southern Eye Center (SEC).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Schedule appointments on the computer within the guidelines set by Southern Eye Center.
- Take messages, and/or communicate concerns as per guidelines set by Southern Eye Center.
- Obtain accurate and complete patient demographics and information, including insurance information, spelling of patient names, addresses, date of birth, telephone numbers, and patient email addresses.
- Answer patient questions within the scope of responsibilities.
- Follow Customer Service guidelines as set forth by Southern Eye Center.
· Performs all other duties as assigned in a professional, courteous and timely manner
Education and/or Experience Required:
- High school diploma.
- Minimum ONE YEAR of experience in an appointment scheduling position, preferably in a medical practice setting is REQUIRED. Knowledge of insurance information and experience with a Practice Management Computer System/ Electronic Health Record (EHR) is preferred. Experience in an ophthalmology practice is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.50 - $15.00 per hour
