Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sewing Machine Operator Trainee to join our team at Southern Furniture Industries. In this role, you will be responsible for operating a single needle sewing machine to assemble various fabric products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Piece together (joining) fabric using a regular single needle sewing machine in accordance with required production and quality standards.
- Retail different types of fabric, including cloth, leather, and vinyl.
- Read and understand daily production schedules to accurately produce daily requirements.
- Learn to identify different covers and colors for respective styles to be assembled.
- Apply thread colors according to the thread color chart.
- Set up work stations and machines consistently with style to be run.
- Retrieve cut covers from a buggy or rack.
- Maintain ½ inch seam as required by quality standards.
- Bundled and tied off completed sewn parts.
- Communicate with supervisor and lead person on questions or problems.
- Maintain clean and organized work station.
Requirements:
- Basic reading and writing skills required.
- Able to read, understand, and communicate the English language.
- Must be able to correctly identify colors.
