Overview
The Director, Supplier COE Strategy is responsible for the development and implementation of internal COE strategy and enterprise-wide strategic initiatives across the Supper Center of Excellence, working directly to support the VP, Supplier COE Strategy, SVP Sales and Marketing, SVP Supplier Strategy & Insights Center of Excellence and the Chief Sales and Marketing Officer. The role’s primary focus will be to support the development, oversight, and implementation of strategic initiatives—partnering directly with the Supplier COE leadership team, including the Supplier Strategy VP, Supplier Insights VP, Multicultural Strategy VP, VP of Supplier & Customer Collaboration, and SVP Commercial Operations in support of SDM Supplier Commercial teams. This role will be expected to be a key cross-functional partner and work closely with other SGWS functions, including OSM, Commercial Effectiveness, Supply Chain Management, and Finance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Partner and collaborate with the Supplier Insights and the Commercial Effectiveness team to embed Ways of Working and best practices within the SDM organization to drive a strong understanding of Commercial Effectiveness initiatives and consistency across the SDM team with regions
- Identify opportunities to drive Supplier Standardization and leverage best practices across Strategic Supplier Universe (e.g., programming and planning)
- Manage supplier quota commitments by collaborating with Supplier leads and Commercial Effectiveness organization
- Develop process to optimize supplier national program design and execution across suppliers
- Collaborate with Insights and Strategy COE to develop standard department templates for supplier activities including recap reports
- Work with SDM Commercial and COE teams to develop and capitalize on subchannel opportunities
- Drive national consistency, process standardization and tool deployment across the SDM and SG corporately managed suppliers, in close coordination with the SDM leadership team, COE leaders and Commercial Effectiveness team
Performance Management
- Develop standard approach to manage contractual and day-to-day Supplier Ways of Working across Supplier Teams
- Develop and deploy Supplier Contractual Compliance Playbook
- Create, Launch and partner with COE Insights and Supplier Strategy teams to actively manage Supplier “Sense of Urgency” Report focused on key supplier terms, opportunities and transition updates to share with SGWS Executive Team, OSM and Regions
- Partner with Commercial Finance and SDM leadership to develop a standard Center Fund Template and Review Process
- Work directly with Commercial Finance and Supplier teams to develop a standard process for LMF contributions management
- Collaborate with Corporate and Regional teams to identify supplier management best practices that can be redeployed across the SGWS supplier network (e.g., planning, programming, goals, commercial deliverables)
- Work with Supplier Commercial leads and COE to identify and communicate supplier/brand opportunities when comp brands exit SGWS
Additional Primary Responsibilities
- Drive coordination and collaboration on Supplier RTM Collaboration & Org Design work with Commercial Effectiveness Team
- Provide executive meeting and project support to Senior Sales & Marketing Executive team, in partnership with OSM, if applicable
- Support T2T business review meetings by partnering with Strategy and Insights COEs and SDM leads and collaborating with OSM, as needed
- In support of the CSMO, lead input, guidance, and evaluation of cross-functional projects that stretch across the National Accounts, Dedicated and SDM universe (e.g., Category, Supplier & Brand Projects)
- Lead/Support annual supplier & brand quad analysis project collaborating directly with COE VP’s and SDM Managing Directors
- Serve as the key point of contact within the COE for the SCM organization on supplier impacting initiatives
- Serve as the project owner in support of enterprise-wide COE initiatives, along with Supplier and Customer Collaboration on projects with SDM suppliers as needed
- Work closely with the VP Supplier Strategy, VP Supplier Insights and VP Multicultural Strategy to manage projects in support of internal and external requests
- Manage the SDM MPP Bonus design, Ways of Working and tracking in collaboration with the SDM Insights and Supplier Strategy team on behalf of the SDM leadership team
Business Development
- Support the CSMO, SVP Sales & Marketing and the SVP Supplier Strategy COE on projects that evaluate Supplier expansion and alignment opportunities
- Work in partnership with OSM’s RFP leadership on RFP engagement in support of the CSMO, SVP Sales and Marketing and SVP Supplier COE to ensure quality and drive consistency across each RFP
- Partner with the SVP COE Commercial Operations on Supplier RFP projects while working directly with the Office of Strategic Management to gather commercial input and guidance on supplier RFP responses at the direction of the Supplier Sales & Marketing leadership team
- Serve as a key Commercial organization point of contact, working alongside the respective SDM MDs, SVP Commercial Operations and SDM Transition Manager in partnership with OSM to support supplier transitions
Minimum Qualifications
- MBA in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 10 years of experience within the consumer products or consumer services industry
- 3 years of internal/external experience in senior consulting roles
- Project Management experience
- Experience managing teams, RFPs, SME for Department Initiatives
- Strong track record of collaboration and leading cross-functional project teams
- Experience working with teams such as Commercial Effectiveness, Finance, National Accounts, Digital and other teams across SGWS
Preferred Qualifications
- Digital knowledge including a strong understanding of SG Proof capabilities
- Trade Development and Trade Marketing experience
- Strong track record of cross-functional collaboration
